The Role
To work as part of a team providing a high level of effective care and support for elderly and dependant residents residing at the home, some of whom are mentally infirm/confused and assist the team to create and maintain a warm, friendly and homely environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

To assist and support residents in all aspects of their personal care, including washing, bathing, and toileting, shaving and dressing. Also provide help and support to get out of bed and retire to bed.
To assist and support residents to eat their meals, helping to serve and prepare drinks and light snacks at residents' requests.
To assist residents in maintaining their laundry requirements. Changing sheets, making beds, sorting soiled linen, washing/tumble drying, (ensuring at all times that this is done so in accordance with the washing instructions attached to the items) and ironing as required.
To encourage residents to remain motivated, stimulated and active by talking and listening to them, writing letters on their behalf and encouraging them to participate in various activities.
To maintain and respect at all times the confidentiality of residents' information and to communicate any related queries to the Manager / Team Leader.
To provide additional support and undertake certain tasks connected with the residents, on the basis of 'as required' e.g. disinfect recently soiled furniture, clean commodes and tidy wardrobes etc.
To respond to emergencies as they arise, informing and or involving the Manager / Team Leader as appropriate.
To maintain at all times the Health and Safety of residents, visitors and colleagues in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
To ensure you are aware and understand all statutory and home policies and procedures and adhere to them at all times.
To undertake and participate in any development training or staff meetings as required by the Manager or legal legislation e.g. The Care Standards Act 2000, Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 etc.
To assist with any other related duties as required by the Company
