St.Katharine Docks Practice -



  • welcoming patients and visitors to the Practice, be it in person or on the telephone

  • answer incoming calls and dealing with inquiries in an appropriate manner

  • schedule patient appointments

  • must have excellent time keeping – very important

  • carrying out daily routine tasks

  • deal with incoming and outgoing post

  • obtain external medical report/scan/results as required by medical professionals

  • ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean

  • ensure availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.

  • maintain patient records by obtaining, recording, and updating personal information.

  • complete other clerical duties as assigned

  • safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality at all times


    Required skills


  • Good written and spoken English

  • Ability to organize and priorities workload

  • Numeracy and Literacy


  • Methodical approach to work, commitment to producing good quality work

  • Competent IT skills

  • Communication skills and ability to copy with Patients and users of the services provided

  • Telephone skills and understanding the importance of relaying correct information

  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality to both the Patients and the Practice, and an ability to maintain it at all times

  • Genuine interest in people

  • Having a professional approach duties

  • Understanding and being able to appreciate diversity, culture and disability 

  • Willingness to learn and develop and participate in all forms of Practice learning




  • Preferably someone who has worked within the NHS

  • Knowledge on the use of EmisWeb system preferred

  • Applicant must have knowledge of computer and relevant software applications

  • knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Customer service skills
