Salary Range £32,974 - £43,471 per annum

Distant Islands Allowance of £1,738 per annum is also payable &

Relocation Assistance of up to £8000 available

A vacancy has arisen for a motivated, creative and dynamic Community Learning Disability and Autism Nurse within Shetland. Based in Lerwick and covering the diversely differing communities across the 15 islands that comprise the Shetland Isles. You will work as a key member of the multidisciplinary learning disability community health and social care team and as an autonomous practitioner with minimum support at times.

As Named Nurse, using a person centred approach the post holder will undertake comprehensive assessment and provide expert clinical advice and direction on the management of individuals from 5 to 75 years with specialist or complex health needs relating to learning disability and/or autism.

Excellent communication, organisational and people skills are required as is experience in working positively with other health professionals, third sector agencies and care providers.

Registered Learning Disability Nurse is essential. Experience of positive intervention in relation to autism required. Car driver and vehicle essential.

Work as a key member of the multidisciplinary learning disability community health and social care team and as an autonomous practitioner with minimum support at times.

To provide a single-handed community learning disability and autism spectrum disorder nursing service to children and adults with a recognised learning disability and/or autism spectrum disorder Shetland wide.

Work with Primary Health Care Teams located throughout the islands at 10 health centres and the 5 single-handed Non Doctor Island Community Nurses

Work with Community Health and Social Care Adult Services who make up the wider Learning Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder Team. and Shetland Islands Council Children Services

Liaise with and facilitate specialist learning disability Psychiatry and Clinical Psychology support from Grampian.

When patient needs dictate, work with all services within the Gilbert Bain Hospital
